It’s Darn Toasty in Melbourne! – Outfit post

Fwoah.
That heat wave was just silly!

If you were in Melbourne the past couple of weeks, I’m sure you’re in the same boat as me.
Not handling the heat.
My poor darling Betty certainly certainly isn’t.
Though I think she appreciates being at the shop as the concrete floor stays reasonably cool.

It’s really tricky picking outfits suitable for weather like this.
If I were at home I’d happily be in a singlet and shorts, however that’s not really the attire suitable for working in my shop.

Polyester & other un-breathable fiber frocks popular in the 50′s & 60′s are a HUGE no no in times like this, and my cotton frock collection is limited, as they are so scarce, and the ones I do have, I already wore throughout the week, as the weather hasn’t eased once.

Luckily that morning I did some vintage shopping, and I found this frock.
Disappointed I couldn’t wear it immediately as I had no time to wash it, it was like the lady who sold it to me was reading my mind.  ‘It’s freshly washed too’
Meant to be. Hoorah!

I dashed straight home, and slipped into this beautiful 1950′s cotton day dress.

I don’t own many black pieces of clothing as I love wearing colour so much, but this is so bold it makes me happy. I can see myself wearing it a lot.

I especially love the rose pattern.  I’m such a huge fan of floral frocks, so this is a perfect addition to my collection.

I wore one of my vintage petti’s underneath to give it that extra volume.

Ms Betty Hunter snoozing on the cool concrete.

My attempt at work over the hot weekend – Setting up this new display.

We also got in this fabulous re purposed esky to sell! Yep, it’s a boombox!
Thanks to Festivalcase.net for bringing one in!

I snuck in a little too much of this kind of thing.

‘Please Mum, make the sun go away’

And that’s the end of our week!

This week has already begun and I’ll begin blogging super soon!

Until my next post

Great frock, what a good score! I must admit I’ve been guilty of wearing un-laundered freshly thrifted vintage goodies just cause \I just HAVE to wear them immediately (yup, a little bit wrong I know). xx Fran
