HAPPY HALLOWEEN *cackle cackle*
Yup that cackling was coming from Trish the Witch last Sunday.
No not quite on the Halloween mark Trish, but it was as close to Halloween I could get where I’d be working at the shop! SO I had to make the most of the day!
Most people had their parties on the Saturday, so figured (hoped) it was acceptable.
Now what to wear?? So, in my vintage dress collection, I remembered I had this late 1960′s dress by Oggi of Collins St Melbourne.
Wait until you see these photos! This isn’t re-dyed, it was always black, and no it isn’t a funeral dress. The fella’s that sold this to me said they remembered their rather eccentric Mother wearing it! FanTAStic!!! Love it.
Ruffly mc-ruffles! I LOVE this dress. See now, it’s not exactly a casual supermarket kind of frock, and for this reason I never thought I’d actually get a chance to wear it, but it all fell into place. Perfect witch dress!
Betty came along for the ride as always, but I had other plans for her *cackle cackle*
It is possible to look like a happy witch even in all black.
This hat is fabbb! I’ve been busting to wear it, and didn’t at all think it’d be in a Halloween costume. It’s a 1940s/50s hat that I bought from an antique store in Melbourne earlier in the year. It’s large brim was just beautiful as was the shape and style. I can’t wait to wear it in Summer!
Preparing Betty Hunter with some love before I trick her into what’s to come.
Wah wah wah!!!!
I got you my pretty, and your little dog too!
Oh, I laughed and laughed at little Betty sitting so patient in my cauldron.
I couldn’t resist a cauldron cuddle and smooch.
Even Betty herself was getting a bit hungry waiting to be cooked for dinner.
But it was time to make the big escape! Ready….
Luckily my cauldron is so sturdy it held her safely. It’s actually an antique cauldron and it’s amazzzing. I bought it off Gareth when we used to both do Camberwell markets a long while ago.
It’s a quite heavy thick metal with beautiful rusty patina, and during the days when not being a faux doggy cooker, it makes a magnificent toilet roll holder in our bathroom :)
I can not get over the ruffly goodness of those sleeves.
I love my little alleyway behind the shop!
Well that was fun!!
I had a blast on the day and so much fun going through all our silly photos.
Betty is such a good sport isn’t she? Love her to bits.
I was thinking about previous Halloween getups, and remembered that not too long ago (so I thought) I was hosting one of Melbourne’s biggest Halloween parties with two amazing Ladies, but I was reminded a couple of days ago that, that was actually 5, 6 & 7 years ago! Wow.
Time flies doesn’t it? It blows my mind.
Well I hope you are all having a FABULOUS and festive Halloween!
I can’t wait to see all of your costumes.
Until my next post
